The Hermit stands strong and tall as he provides the light on YOUR path. His gray robe is a reminder of his vast wisdom and knowledge. He is the father of all esoteric studies. Although his specialty is the ancient knowledge found in the Tarot cards, he provides the light on the path as he shares all ancient knowledge without doubt, without question to those who ask him for it. He will never push or pull you to learn anything that you are not ready for or cannot teach to someone else as you travel down your chosen spiritual path. He is YOUR guide. This card also encourages the study of whatever organized religion the querant is interested in as well as metaphysical subjects. He carries the number nine, the number of completion. Yet, there is always a new beginning at every ending. This card tells us that the querant is about to start on another part of their spiritual journey. This time they will go inward to search for self-knowledge. It may be a harder, darker time for them because it is on a deeper, more challenging level.

Reversed: The quarent needs to be paying attention to the opportunity of religious or spiritual learning. I have had this card show in reverse for a man about to enter the priesthood but was struggling with the final decision toward commitment. It tells us that the querant has the gift of wisdom.
